This website is dedicated to the hundreds of Peak District National Park volunteer rangers and part-time rangers, especially those who have attended at Dove Stone since the 1960s, to help care for this fabulous region with little or no monetary reward. They have dealt with thousands of incidents including help and advice to visitors and residents, creating and maintaining footpaths, stiles, and woodlands. Leading guided walks. Helping to combat anti-social behaviour and often receiving abuse as a result. Over the years they have cleared up vast amounts of litter, They’ve extinguished fires, recovered lost dogs, rendered first aid, helped prevent dog attacks on sheep, and searched for missing visitors including children.
If just a small number of the incidents were reported in the media the public would be amazed but the volunteers have carried out these things week after week, including Bank Holidays, mostly without publicity or even recognition
Thank you all
